The Brief
NRMA (National Roads and Motorists’ Association), with partial funding from the Australian Government’s Driving the Nation Fund, is deploying fast EV chargers at sites across Australia’s national highways, with the aim to have chargers every 150kms between capital cites. NRMA was seeking an Australian based BIEVC provider to install and manage ongoing operation and maintenance of fast-charging stations in regional and remote locations.
The Problem
The charging station sites in remote locations are beset by limited and/or unstable grid power supply. Any deployed charging solution needed to accommodate scenarios where multiple chargers would be in use simultaneously, while offering local technical support to ensure ongoing reliability.
Our Solution
- 17 x D1 chargers connected to the local power supply, requiring a 10-40kW input
Deployment
The D1 charger, with an integrated 193 kWh battery, is the only solution that can provide a DC fast charge in remote areas where limited power supply is available.
Outcome
Providing a fast-charging solution in this remote location supports NRMA’s Driving the Nation Program goals of expanding Australia’s electric vehicle charging network across national highways, enabling EV drivers to travel long distances and traverse remote regions with confidence. eLumina’s D1 BIEVCs have also mitigated the need for costly grid upgrades to improve charging speeds.
