The Brief
NRMA (National Roads and Motorists’ Association), undertaking a staged replacement of previously deployed Tritium chargers which have experienced reliability and servicing issues, was looking for an alternative charging infrastructure solution with greater performance stability and sustainability.
The Problem
Tritium experienced challenges with their deployed units which have a high proportion of bespoke components, and they lacked the capacity to satisfactorily maintain and service the infrastructure. This unreliability was deemed a deterrent to EV drivers using the existing charging network as it can trigger ‘range anxiety’.
Our Solution
- D2 Fast chargers which use commonly available off-the-shelf electrical and electronic components, making them easier to maintain and service.
- Provision of local support and spare parts holdings for ease of maintenance.
Deployment
NRMA leveraged eLumina’s Australian presence, which includes remote hardware monitoring and partnership with leading electricity solutions provider Addelec.
Outcome
Replacing these EV charging stations with a reliable fast-charging solution helps to restore EV drivers’ confidence in Australia’s electric vehicle charging network, especially when travelling long distances and through remote regions.
